The strange thing is that there is nothing condescending or passive-aggressive about the note left for the people who thought that they were too good to clean up after themselves. It was a simply-worded, polite request for people to not be jerks: period. It's pretty pathetic that we've come to a point where calling people on their behavior, politely and without blaming specific individuals or making it personal, is incorrectly labeled "passive-aggressive" as a way of silencing dissent about rudeness.
I like this, and it's in keeping with my thoughts on the matter. I work for a (comparatively) big media publisher and I generally support our anti-piracy activities (except for endorsing SOPA, of course). What I wanted to point out is the fury that's been heaped on Seanan McGuire because of e-book/print book releases completely beyond her control, which underlines the poster's observation about the entitlement of people who expect to be able to get something in the form they want it at the instant they want it.
