I loved it because it was the one sitcom where Daddy & Mommy liked each other and neither was a moron. I could imagine Gomez & Morticia Doing It. (I didn't want to think about whether the Kramdens did it, but it still seems unlikely that, if they did, they both enjoyed it.) I think it also subliminally programmed and brainwashed me. The message was that if you're weird, don't pretend to be normal; find someone with complementary weirdness. It worked, and unlike W.C. Fields with the woman who drove him to drink, I hereby thank them for it.

The Rotund likes them too.

I love the Addams Family. I only know them from the films, but still.

Same here.

The OH and I watched about 1-1/2 episodes of Big Bang Theory (a sitcom about geeks) tonight and decided not to watch any more. I wished for a show more like The Addams Family, where the weirdos are trying to bring the mundanes into their world and show them how much better it is, and where the audience is supposed to be on the side of the weirdos, rather than yet another show where the humor revolves around laughing at the weirdos for trying to act normal.

Also The Addams Family had interesting female characters.
