Many Republicans have said reasonable and/or charitable things, so now they have to explain that they were misquoted and didn't really mean it, and sometimes the primary voters will forgive them. Newt Gingrich, however, is a slow learner, so he said something reasonable in this very campaign. He is unforgivable.
