"What the Constitution does not guarantee is one’s right to a tv/radio show or a job as a political pundit [or a convention GoH]." Oliver Willis explains.
I've felt for years that Juan Williams was a blight on the NPR policy of fairness. Back when he hosted 'Talk of the Nation' he was routinely rude to callers whose views were more liberal than his own and I was not at all surprised when he found Fox more to his liking. It only surprised me that NPR kept him on board for so long and I, for one, am glad to see him gone. I have no objection to hearing differing views, but he was disparaging, unpleasant and far from the even-handed consideration I have come to expect from NPR.
