Can I groan a bit about Dr Condom, the persistent myth figure (hello, the Dudley Castle condoms well predate the Merry Monarch)? The Sanger story sounds a bit too ben trovato, too - yes, her mother's many pregnancies and hard life were a strong influence, but I'm not sure the story as given is anything but a good dramatic tale.
