Well, duh. He doesn't understand that the way to determine Truth (or would that be Truthiness?) is to consider the status of the person making the claim. CEO's earn millions or 100s of millions per year; they are clearly much higher status than mere researchers. So even though researchers are higher status than any worker, the statements of one especially well paid CEO trump (pun intended) all the statements of all the researchers.

I am so sick of being required to pretend to believe whatever my betters tell me, particularly given that it's obvious that what they say is "messaging" designed for its effects, to which truth or falsehood is completely irrelevant. CEOs I worked for have been blatantly lying to me on more than the previously expected topics (which were things like "there is no layoff coming"; "you are paid more than fairly"; "you'll get the next promotion" etc. since some time in the last century, and none of my neurotypical coworkers have seemed to notice or care.

So glad I'm all set to retire and stop working for The Man, aka the biggest Lying Baboon in the area.
