Kevin has deposited our ballots. That means, among other things, that Facebook has my explicit permission to STFU with its voting reminders, etc.

It appears that, unsurprisingly, the Democrats are voting ahead of time because that’s what the situations calls for and the Republicans will go to the polls at the appointed time because that's what they've always done. I hope we have really shit weather on Nov 3.

I'm doing get-out-the-vote texting, including helping people who want to know where they can drop their ballots off, or what the hours are for early voting in person--and even with the deliberately non-partisan campaigns, the occasional "Biden/Harris 2020" people are friendly, and the Trumpers are hostile, like they can't believe I want to help everyone vote.

I mostly want to help Democrats, but I actually believe in small-d democracy.

Yeah, that thing.

There have always been people who were suspicious of democracy, the whole "democracy would be great if the voters were qualified" nonsense.

But it feels like the 2000 and 2016 elections have really pushed many Republicans into being actively anti-democracy by policy, not just tactics. (and not just the fallacious "we're a Republic, not a Democracy" meme)
