Long ago when I was in high school, they told us that two of the greatest liberal presidents ever were Andrew Jackson the populist and Woodrow Wilson the internationalist. When I said this at a con panel a few years ago, I had to wait for laughter to subside before I got to Wilson. Now we may be catching up with Wilson too.

I’ve despised him for years for his dream of inflicting democracy on the entire world, which gave cover to our military interventionists in Vietnam and Iraq and continue to inspire the likes of Dr. Strangestache. I knew he undid the modest racial progress Roosevelt & Taft had made. But he was worse. [Talking Points]

But... but... but... League of Nations! Which would have been an even more effective international organisation if the United States had been persuaded to join.

(You're going to tell me the LoN used to rip the wings off flies and beat its wife now, aren't you?)
