This is really interesting. My first boyfriend definitely knocked my head into the wall quite a few times, and I recall what I'd now call "diminished consciousness" from a couple of those incidents. My mother also really preferred smocking me in the head, with or without objects. I attributed how much academically harder college was than high school to the changed environment, but now I wonder.
