Marijuana as a gateway drug doesn't make a great deal of sense. But it remains true that if users can't get their drug of preference, they will switch to something else. It is precisely that driving the opiate crisis: when cut off from prescription drugs such as oxycodone, people switch to something more accessible like heroin. The crackdown actively makes the problem worse. >_<
And marijuana? States that have legalized it saw a whopping 33% drop in overdose deaths. I knew there would be some but I didn't anticipate nearly that much.
