I guess they had to downplay the betrayals that started driving people away. And no mention of threaded comments, comment headers and their role in fanfic communities, the ease of jumping to someone's own LJ from a comment? I wonder if the author deliberately left out the whole background of the blogging period, and how prior to LJ you had to be able to code it and host it, and then you would only get a few readers.
