Why is a government shutdown that was created by the president because he is a vicious moron inspiring people to demand that we stop paying Congress for the duration?

The House could stop the shutdown if they wanted to. Paul Ryan just refused to take the bill to the floor cause Trump told him not to, and he didn't want to stand up to Trump.

If Trump vetoed the bill, and Congress wanted to, they could override his veto.

It seems a bit rich that the power with the power to stop the shutdown are the ones who still get to draw salary, while the contract janitorial staff with no power to do anything are worrying about their morgages.

You shouldn't punish a kid for refusing to stand up to a bully. But these are elected representatives and they're the only people in America with the power to stand up to the bully. It's not fair, but it's not completely unfair either. If they think standing up to the bully isn't worth the trouble, they can feel the consequences too.

They're "relatively" innocent in the same way that everybody who cheers on a bully but doesn't get their own hands dirty is.
