Almost all the news sites now give me an autoplaying video at the top that also appears over the right-hand edge of the text as I scroll down. It's especially maddening because I can't hear the sound, and many of them are just talking heads. But I'd assumed somebody must like this feature, because it's so pervasive - maybe all those folks constantly browsing the internet with their phones. It's news to me that others hate it, too. Why on earth do newspapers do that? CNN, I understand - they are primarily a video outfit.
