We never appear to have had such laws here (although racism abounded) which is why someone like Matoaka (aka Pocahontas/Rebecca Rolfe) was treated like the royalty she was when she visited (and sadly died on) these shores.

It's probably also why we have so many elderly mixed race couples in our small town which always does my heart good! :o)
