I read "For us to assume that global capitalism can continue as it is means to assume a path to destruction" differently than you, apparently. I see the article as condemning the damaging form of capitalism as taught & reinforced by current business schools ("market managerialism"). And also suggesting that having one predominant system is also not good.

The focus on short-term profit extraction that they teach is actually harmful to capitalism as we know it. It's like teaching farmers to feed their seed corn to their cattle. You eat well this winter, but your agricultural industry is in for problems next year.

It's the misspelling. It's em-VEE-ay, for "malicious vampire assassin". They drain the livelihood from companies (and people) for personal gain.
