(In all seriousness, the lack of Congressional oversight is what makes me wish the beltway mutual-reacharound society would finally recognize corruption when it's waved under their nose like an overripe turd.)

Seriously, though, if the best the Democrats could come up with for a campaign was "we're not as bad as the other lot" then they deserved to lose. Four more years of the status quo isn't a particularly good selling point when the previous administration didn't really live up to the hype.
