I wasn't fond of the woman, but she deserved at least a modicum of respect in life, and certainly a modicum of respect in death. My former editor had a story he got from his dad, a former Treasury agent who got called up to work Secret Service in election years. His dad saw Mrs. Bush squinting at an agent whose jacket button hung by a thread. She shut it all down and sewed up the damn button herself, he said. Better way to remember her, I think.
