What’s funny about this whole thing isn’t people’s inability to understand metaphor in hip-hop, it’s that this was the exact thing that happened with Obama’s “you didn’t build that” quote. I don’t know what’s so hard about understanding the complexities of famous black people using multiple sentences to express ideas, but it’s something we as a nation must address before Neil deGrasse Tyson is imprisoned for threatening to blow up the sun.
