Dan Savage has done some good things, such as setting up the It Gets Better Project and coining the word santorum. Unfortunately, it seems that he does those when the moon is full, and the rest of the time he's an asshole, saying things like nobody's really bi, fat people are disgusting, and women don't like sex. His latest is calling a survivor of recent sexual violence a "total shit" for not recovering on his terms. Being a gay activist is not a Get Out of Being a Human Being Free card.

P.J. O'Rourke said that when he's called a Nazi, he consoles himself with the thought that no one fantasizes about being tied up and ravished by someone dressed as a liberal. I have come to believe that he is correct only on the most literal level. Some masochists who belong to top-dog groups (white, male, etc.) envy the suffering of those in the underdog groups and revel in the delightful agony of imagining themselves subjected to the same sort of thing by the all-powerful Liberal Establishment. For some reason, Christians are particularly prone to this fetish. The latest example is particularly disgusting to those of us who do not share the kink.
