Bungling bigotry
Oct. 15th, 2010 07:11 amI look back on the gay bashing I grew up with, and immediately after noting that it made no more sense than racial or religious hatred, I am struck by how much more inaccurate it was than the other kinds. Liking poetry or pretty colors really does not correlate well with gayness. I don't know if the current generation of haters is doing a better job of actually finding people who are attracted to their own sex, but that's not what matters. It would be lovely if all those morons who think President Obama is a Muslim could be made to accept the obvious fact that he isn't, but it would be better if we could find short enough words and sentences to get across to them that it shouldn't matter if he was one.
