Rush Limbaugh explains that Obama created the current economic mess all by himself to punish America for racism. Tune in next week when we learn that FDR created the previous depression because America wasn't nice enough to the differently abled.

Another creationist blames "Darwinism" for the Holocaust. I think it makes every bit as much sense to treat this as a papist plot against the Protestant Darwin, cleverly deflecting attention from the monk Mendel and his crazed cult of followers. You almost can't spell "eugenics" without "gene."

The collectivist view that allowing poor people to control their own fertility is just like genocide because it will lower the number of them has been inadvertently satirized by a warning of a diabolical scheme by Bill Gates to make the poor breed less by having fewer of them die of disease. This also performs the difficult feat of providing a stupider argument against vaccination than the fake autism menace.

Thanx to Jesus' General.

Back when I was, or thought I was a libertarian, one thing I liked about it was that we didn't expect everyone to be like us. Communism has to be fractal; if it isn't egalitarian socialism all the way down, the market will slither back in and people will pay what they think something is worth instead of the amount of labor value, but libertarians can allow voluntary collectivist organizations. But no, some people insist that everyone be like them.

Andy Kaufman became famous for doing something that was a lot like comedy except for the part about making people laugh. He has been followed by others acting like assholes but it's comedy because they don't really mean it. I like the economy of never attributing to cutting-edge performance art what can be explained by stupidity or meanness, but I also like Janeane Garofalo's theory that Ann Coulter is performing an endless Andy Kaufman humoroid bit. So, Gallagher: really like that?

Geeks

Some guys want to take the fun out of being a geek by insisting that it's a form of masculinity. I long for the day when humanity notices that "masculine" and "feminine" are no better terms for general human traits than "Caucasian" and "Negroid," and suggest that we replace the former with Butch and Fem. There are a number of genders, including Butch, Fem, Geek, and Sexless, and while there may be correlations, it is not safe to assume that a person of a particular gender will have a particular genital conformation. Unsurprisingly, Geek Feminism talks sense about the issue.
