maiac's ever-useful This Day in History has informed me that today is Autistic Pride Day. I don't think Autism or even Asperger's is a particularly useful label for me, but I am sure I am somewhere on the spectrum, and that's a place I'm happy to be.

Michael Bérubé notices that David Brooks is stupider than the American people.

I just realized who David Brooks reminds me of: Dave Berg. The real one, but even more the one in the vicious NatLamp attack on Mad ("You know you've outgrown Mad when…you know what @#$% stands for"): He goes to talk to a jailed juvenile delinquent and set him on the right path, and after a few paragraphs of heart-warming glurge about how we're all good folks deep down inside, the kid says, "OK, I'll talk. Just get him out of here."
