Draggin’ down the Dragon

The Dragon Awards were set up so that pupfic would win on its merits, and also because people would vote for it to defend sci-fi from those *euww-ick* SJWs. That would have worked about as well as contradictions in terms generally do, but then they added a rule forbidding nominees from withdrawing from the ballot, thereby making sure that they are personally defeated. I don’t know how much mean-spirited pleasure can be gained from winning over candidates who have announced that they don’t want the award and will have a representative at the con so that in the unlikely eventuality that they do win, the committee can be instructed to stick the award where the sun, moon, and stars don’t shine.
