Heinlein used to have characters caution that you should never kick a man in the balls if you're not planning to kill him. He emphatically meant metaphorically, as well... don't humiliate a person who has power to retaliate.

I sure hope that Kim Jong un isn't as childishly narcissistic as Trump.
