I'll again make my mild observation that economics *is* better than astrology, even if it doesn't do all that we wish it would/could. A lot of people (contra the article) did call out the possibility of a crash in 2008, but most didn't realize how deep the rot could go because of the unregulated "shadow banking" industry. This isn't the fault of economics.

I do grant you, it's often snake oil, which I believe some purveyors claimed "scientific" basis for.
