That's 27 percent who will admit to it, so the actual numbers are likely worse. Otoh, that number isn't as bad as I would have suspected. I am also unsurprised that the numbers are worse for people your age, or mine, than for those sigificantly younger.

I think a lot of younger people are less hidebound and nasty--if given the chance, that is. I know my son has several transitioning friends and considers it no big deal.

The old question though- I don't spend all my time advertising the fact so how do they suppose they'd know?

Last time the subject came up at work I pointed that out and everyone got kind of quiet and wideeyed.

It really does baffle me, I have to admit.

I suspect it's about 'what everybody knows'- that we're all 6'+ (I'm 5'6" as you know) and that we all dress 'like a fifties fashion plate' (an actual quote from an actual TERF).

Only 27%? That's amazing, given what such a survey would have looked like in my youth, if it could even have been done. (The concept of TG barely existed, and violence against homosexuals was routine - legally committed by the government as well as less legally by random citizens.)
