The UK had Brexit; we had Trump. The UK made Boris Johnson their Foreign Secretary. People in the pucoming administration are saying, “Ooh, a mayor who wasn’t quite as bad as Rob Ford! How about Rudy?”

To be fair, it is hard to be as bad a mayor as Rob Ford. (I left New York in '94, and the only things I remember about Giuliani are that he came to speak at Baruch once, so I met him, and that he was very down on jaywalking, of all things. I think the police riot was after my time.)

That does explain why he'd try to stretch prosecutorial discretion to the breaking point over a nontroversy like Clinton's e-mails.
