I seem to recall that Jesus, faced with an analogous situation, suggested keeping spiritual things in the spiritual sphere and political things in the political sphere, but that might be too close a reading of the "render unto Caesar" quote. Also, isn't that diocese in particular crummy with politicians and others actively and with relish committing various sins (not just sexual, either)? Why isn't it holding the poor hostage to them?
