I assume that people who can spell correctly (I am one) are those who successfully underwent a form of totalitarian indoctrination, rather than being "smarter" than those who can't. So I don't put up pictures of misspelled signs, and I certainly wouldn't fake it

I don't assume what you assume about spellers. I assume some people's brains just see words in a way that facilitates good spelling. When I was little, I assumed my ease with spelling was because I'm smart (because my mom said so). Then I saw that some of the smartest people I know, including my brother (who is much smarter than I) can't spell for shit.
