Giving

From a post that Facebook disappeared before I could comment, about why The Giving Tree is a controversial book and gifted & talented kids often dislike it.

The Giving Tree is about “from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs.” Gifted & talented are often told that we must give a lot and take as little as possible.

3. Some of the smartest, nicest, most interesting friends & acquaintances in the world, specifically including those belonging to my dreamwidth and Facebook reading lists and my electronic and postal mailing lists.
4. My body. It’s an evolved animal, the product of millions of years of fighting, breeding, and dying, with all the problems that would suggest, but as far as we know, the human body is the only vehicle mind has. (It's a ride.) I’m thankful for mine in particular because it’s a strong one. It has survived 80+ years of as little exercise and nutritional correctness as I could get away with giving it. It has survived much abuse of assorted substances (and the only one of those I wouldn’t do over again is tobacco) and now survives without them.
6. All other minds, past and present: those who created computers to expand my mind and a Net to join it to others, medicines that allow me to survive the previously fatal weaknesses of my body, and words and pictures that have enriched my thoughts, and all those I have forgotten or taken for granted.

There used to be a #5, expressing modified rapture for my country, but that was before it re-elected a senile fascist.

I think Biden should resign some time before January 20 so the rump gang will be distracted by trying to remove Kamala Harris from the historical record.

AI gets sensible attacks and ones that sound like “I’ve been anti-electricity ever since they gave Grandpappy the chair.” We have all been here before.

There is a woman on Facebook who claims to be President Kennedy’s illegitimate daughter and presents complex conspiracy theories stemming from that given. Perhaps the most plausible part of her account is that she would then share genes with RFK Jr.

Kennedy theory (evidence-free)
After the assassination, the FBI was called in. They didn't know who did it, but they suspected that some of their people might be involved, so they destroyed evidence, just to be on the safe side. The CIA was called in. They didn't know who did it, but they suspected that some of their people might be involved, so they destroyed evidence, just to be on the safe side. One or more other hush-hush government operations did likewise. So now we no longer have the means to demonstrate the connection between the killing and its true mastermind: Fidel Castro.

AI says bacon is kosher. At least it’s not as lethal as AI mushroom recommendations.

There has been a meme going around that The Onion was desperate for material more idiotic than current reality. They have just purchased Infowars. Really.

Blast from the Past: RFK Jr. is losing his essence because of fluoridated water.

Offensive

Some say that rump’s pantomime of fellating a microphone should have turned enough voters off. I for one am less offended by men putting cylindrical objects in their mouths than by them boasting about grabbing unwilling women.

Nick Fuentes, who is being doxed for saying, “Your body, my choice. Forever,” is on record [Wikipedia] as saying that since women like girly things such as kissing and snuggling, heterosexuality is essentially gay. Andrew Tate, whose heterosexual skills are apparently such that he believes female orgasm is a myth, is suggesting that one should deal with those nasty desires by having a trusted male friend relieve the tension. His version of “no homo” is that this must be done by hand or mouth only.

These are not my people.

One excellent answer to “Your body, my choice” is “Your balls, my foot.”

I knew there are a lot of stupid mean people in this country, but I didn’t know they were a majority.

In the 60s The Realist interviewed a man who’d been a stand-up comic and became a social worker. He said that much of the night club audience is men who didn’t want to be there but their wives insisted (“You never take me anywhere”) and men sneaking out on their wives. So the comedian would say, “My wife is a piece of shit,” and the men in the audience would laugh in agreement as if it were funny. Anthropologists say that one idea that approaches universality is that jokes about the tribe down the river are funnier. Referring to Puerto Rico as an island of floating garbage is that sort of humor substitute.

Hitler’s best general, Erwin Rommel, was in on the plot to kill him.
The Almighty Algorithm at Facebook considered this unprintable.*
If I were a Nazi dictator, I wouldn’t want the kind of generals Hitler had.
