Not exactly Internet, but I've always been fond of the James Thurber story ("File and Forget") in which (pre-computer) he orders two copies of his book and gets two copies of Grandma Was a Nudist. Despite clear correspondence explaining the problem, by the end of the story, he has dozens of copies of the wrong book, and has a bonfire on his lawn.
