One of Robert Anton Wilson's favorite terms of derision was nameless asshole. The Internet has given it a whole new meaning, enabling people to inflict their meanness and stupidity anonymously on others at little or no cost or risk to themselves.
A friend of mine died a few years ago, and I wrote about her on my lj. Today I received e-mail notice that two nameless assholes (or one redundant one) had informed me that her death was "good riddance." Asshole (s): It can't hurt her; it didn't hurt me; I hope it hurt you.
