Bookslut is, as so many others have done, beating on The New Yorker as a Horrible Example of the Lit Establishment (in this case, specifically male) that no one reads or cares about. The current issue has three fascinating articles: the Scientology exposé and two that don't appear to be online: Malcolm Gladwell on the college rating shuck and Rebecca Mead on why Middlemarch is one of the greatest novels ever.
