Perhaps the Puritans should have spent the first few hundred years in the country they moved into recognizing their second-class status and not doing provocative things like building a church near where Natives were killed.
How about shopping centers and strip malls? I recall one in southern Rhode island named Metacom Plaza. Metacom (or Metacomet) was the name of the Wampanoag chieftain better known as King Philip, who almost drove the English out of Massachusetts and Rhode Island in 1675.
