What, me die?

National Lampoon, which had Issues with its own issues, did an article on “you know you’ve outgrown MAD when…” (e.g., “you know what %^&* means”). I reached that stage long ago, so the announcement of its demise gave me a feeling of nostalgia rather than loss. And the news of its death is exaggerated. [comicbook/dc]

Thanx to File 770

MAD as we understood it did not last into the new millennium. After that it was shiny pages, real ads, and safe toothless satire. (As satire must be if its going to be acceptable to PepsiCo and Chevrolet.)

Ironically, Cracked has gone from an ersatz toothless MAD to being closer to what MAD was when it was.

I don't thin it's exaggerated.

no new content = dead

Even if the corpse is still walking around.

Yeah it's dead. DC, gack, what an idea.
