The housemate plays this all the time in waiting rooms and supermarket lines. When not the NYT crossword, which you can apparently subscribe to on smartphone.
I don't play classic Solitaire except once in a blue moon, but I play Freecell on my desktop fairly often. First of all, every game is winnable, which provides a certain amount of incentive (and satisfaction when I finally win a difficult game). And second, it doesn't take up much in the way of Windows resources, so I can play it to kill time when my screen is taking a minute or two to decide to display or load whatever I actually want to see.
If I ever get a computer that doesn't have such annoying peccadilloes, I would probably still play it occasionally, but not as often.
