Some of that I didn't understand: the bits about targeting messages. I guess as a non-Assbooker, I can't grok how readily people label every aspect of their thought using the approved labels?

But overall, I am gobsmacked by the tone of benevolence toward Facebook that pervades the article. Everything they did, the writer assumes they did for the best possible reasons. Anyone would think they were telling the truth in their press releases ... and that their platitudes about "connecting" people were not a cynical sugar coating of their intention to monetize and, not incidentally, to voyeurize anything they can get people to do on their platform, or off the edges of it. For goodness' sake, I can't even comment on most news stories any longer without selling my personal identifiers to Zuck. So spare me the crocodile tears. Zuck should hang.
