Although I think I get where they're going with this, these examples are bad. Most kids need to be taught things like phone manners explicitly. I remember being trained by my parents on how to answer a phone (back in the days of landlines and no caller ID) including how to answer and what to say and not to say (not "mom is in the bathroom" or even "mom's not home") for safety and politeness. It sounds like this person's parents didn't take the time explain things such as this and how words are used (the difference between "I like this" and "I want this" can be explained) and punished them for it, but not necessarily because because they were non-neurotypical. Which makes me sad for them.
