I saw one thing - a network of soil sensors - that wsa talked about as a WONDERFUL application for the "Internet Of Things" and the first thought that occurred to me was, "WTF? Why not the in*tra*net of things?"

The IOT's goal is to create more big data but it would be far more sensible and far, far, far more secure, to use those ideas for far more personalized things. And then, if people want to sell the data they've collected, well, it's their choice.

One thing that annoys me about the world of today: if Comcast says "because we get to see your data, we should be able to copy it, and then use it" that's just fine and dandy, a-okay to Congress - at least the GOP Congress. But if we did the same thing to a song or movie, they'd be talking lawsuits and prosecution for the exact same activity: saying "since I get to see that data, I get to keep it if I want."
