Yup, race is a construct, and poorly devised at that. Having grown up in a town that was mostly white Christian, I very much identify with the concept of "passing" as white, except all the times when I don't, as an Ashkenazi Jew, and I've also passed as a person of color. I've been considering my "racial" identity as "liminal" or "race queer"--big surprise. "Other" is always a favorite, too.
