Some of that did read a bit like defending her from a straw man, sure, Chandler said some nasty things, but when was that? Even Doctor Who did an episode singing her praises (even if it was one of the worst episodes that year).
Admittedly slight bias, she lived the other side of the village I grew up in, her old house is now a National Trust staple (and my first proper job was int eh same building as her first proper job, even if the use has changed completely several times between and since). So, um, we tended to study her from the perspective of "awesome local writer" more than "cosy mystery writing hack" anyway.
