That is how it *should* go, except for the part about the school administrators blaming her (and, of course, their failing to protect her). I'd be very proud of my daughter for that. (I'd then ask if she's aware how important it is to do that in *public* - with *witnesses*.)
ETA: Witnesses, so that if the guy decides to attack again, there are witnesses to that event and people to respond. i.e.: don't do this in a secret location, because some scary assholes might *kill* you. Literally. No, I don't mean "literally" as in "I really want to emphasize" I mean "cause you to stop living, kill you."
Obviously, the witnesses didn't protect her from being blamed.
