For some reason Firefox has decided to approach the network named after shit-flinging monkeys with a firm grip on its own ankles, and it no longer defaults to Google for searches. Fortunately, we have a computer self-defense professional in the household, and he will fix it.

ETA: I figured out how to switch it back myself, but I'm still pissed off.

Mozilla believe that it's better for people to use a multitude of search engines, rather than the entire population of the planet being passed through one uber-corporation.

So when it came time to renew their contract, they went with a different one rather than continuing with Google. While leaving it simple for people to exercise their choice and switch to whichever one they wanted.

"the network named after shit-flinging monkeys"...wait, would that be AOL? (If you noticed in their re-branding campaign of a few years ago after they renamed themselves aol., they did actually use what looked like a shit-flinging monkey hanging upside down by its own tail for one of their precious new logos).

Firefox has to default to something, though, and defaulting to Yahoo makes me want to poke my eyes out with a fork. The first thing I always do is change the default back to Google. Not because I love Google (I can't stand it) but because I wrote my own script to defeat most of what I don't like about it years ago and over 99% of that script still defeats what I don't like to this day. I'm not writing another script for Yahoo. Just no, nah, nope, not doing it, forget about it.
