Charles Murray denounces the dread intellectual elite for not liking the Left Behind books, NASCAR, and The Price Is Right. That may mean that he has done a better job than right-wingers generally do of defining that nebulous but despised group.

That's totally untrue! I learned about Branson from The Simpsons!

He acts like some of those things are value-neutral, and therefore somehow obligatory because they're irrelevant to an individual's personal moral standards--such as Left Behind or evangelical Christianity.
