Magnificent essay by Ursula K. Le Guin. One main theme reminds me of Doris Lessing’s GoH speech at the ICFA, pointing out that realism, the supposed be-all-and-end-all of Serious Lit, was in fact a passing fad in a modest part of the world. Lessing won the Nobel; so should Le Guin.
