The Age of Wonder for baseball is even younger than for science fiction, and I'm hoping this year's World Series re-creates one of the great traditions of my childhood: Yanks Beat Dodgers. (Yanks beat Phils is also familiar, but that happened only once.)

Ha.

As far as I can tell, my dad (when he was a baseball fan) was National League All The Way, which would also have been a function of the time; I do remember hearing about the Brooklyn Dodgers long before I figured out what baseball was, and October 1963 was enlivened by surreptitious transistor radios in school and Sandy Koufax. (My Yankee fan year was 1962. It was OK.)

I might prefer the Angels to climb out of the hole and meet the Phils, but that might take a serious miracle.

And I see you've got a baseball icon now. :-) [Edited to correct icon.]

I'll be rooting for Phils beat Yankees. But you knew that.
