I was all set to believe bitcoin is a fraud, but here’s contrary evidence.

More fraud from the racketeer influenced and corrupt organization known as Wells Fargo

Thanx to Charles P. Pierce.

Wright Patman was a fairly typical Southern populist: He supported segregation and any war the generals wanted to wage and opposed the bankers. (Unlike many of them, he may have admitted that some of the bankers were Gentiles.) The idealistic Democrats swept into power in 1974 by Watergate dumped him from his committee chairmanship. That appears to have been a step too far.

Thanx to Avedon's Sideshow.

Ho hum, another bank caught ruining its customers to make even more money. This one’s in Scotland.

Wells Fargo Bank employees were caught making up over a million fake accounts. Top management was shocked, shocked at this behavior and has no idea how it could have happened (spoiler: they fire people who don’t churn up enough business). A Senate committee is looking into it and has achieved rare unanimity; even Diaper Dave Vitter and Pat “Sock It” Toomey noticed something was wrong. Senator Professor Warren is of course doing the best job on it. Charles Pierce reports.

Jamie Dimon acts as if the government was treating him like the leader of an international crime ring. Unfortunately, he is mistaken.

Wells Fargo, the stagecoach that robs you, wishes to charge customers $3 per debit card transaction. This is only fair, by bank logic, because the nasty old gummint is making them charge the merchants 20 cents less. If I were still a libertarian, I would be the kind who says that we smash the banks and then see if we still need to smash the state.

ETA: My mistake: $3 a month. Still a violation of the principle that the money flows to the depositor.

Morgan Stanley may also have shorted the toxic derivatives it was selling to the suckers.

Thanx to Oliver Willis
